ABOUT OUR DENTAL SERVICE TRIP TO SAN ANDROS

Andros is the largest island of the Bahamas and the fifth-largest island in the Caribbean, however, there is currently no residing dentist. In 2012, the students and faculty at the University of Florida began an international, humanitarian, dental project to provide free access to dental care and education to children on the island. For most of these children, their only experience with dental care is from our team. Our focus is on preventative care, teaching oral hygiene while also treating those in need of care. In 2016, we treated close to 400 patients!

This year, fourteen dental students from the University of Florida and six dental professionals will participate in the annual trip to the island of San Andros to offer our hands in helping change lives. During this week, we will be providing fillings, cleanings, flouride varnish, extractions, sealants and oral health education in temporary dental clinics and schools.

Through our volunteer commitment, we will be responsible to purchase our own materials, supplies, dental instruments all on a tight graduate school budget. With your help, we will be able to change the lives of so many people. Any contribution helps, and as little as $5 can help to put a smile on a young child's face.

Please consider supporting this international outreach program. Any supplies or funding you can contribute are greatly appreciated! Thank you!
